East. Coast. Bias.

Edit: those stats you have for Toews are wrong. They are:

Ladd had a great year but how can he be in this discussion?

e played with heart, had a great year but most valuable player on a team which ended the season as a non playoff team. Can't be MVP.

If you make a case for Ladd then you can make an even bigger case for Sergei Bob.

To me the 3 should have been JT, Alex Ovechkin and maybe sid

They got it right i think with only Sid as a question mark.

COuld definitely make a big case for Getzlaf

Only a Jets fan could believe that Andrew Ladd is more deserving than Tavares.
As a Leaf fan, why don't we put Kessel in there too then?
Ridiculous.

Crosby being injured and his team still winning the Conference shows that he doesn't deserve this award.

East Coast Bias!

Taylor Hall has stats that rival most of those guys and yet most including you don't even list him!

Where is this in the criteria?

This award should just be changed officially to league MVP. The definition muddles it every year. Bobrovsky, Taylor Hall, Ladd all should be in the convo by the definition.

The reason to me at least is what's the difference if he's on the team or not. They ddn't make the playoffs so having them there made no difference for success of the team. It's why there should be an argument for Crosby not being on the list.

JT and Ovechkin are obvious choices but either Suter or Getzlaf should have been on that list. Look at what Suter did with a B list D-core

Toewes should have been nominated....but this is Tavares to win...leading the Isles to the playoffs after being so awful for so long and having a great year..he deserves it

Toews, Getzlaf or Kane over Ovechkin. Aside from that I think it's fine. Tavares probably wins it. If not then it'll be Crosby and it'll be very close.

Of all the players whose teams didn't make the playoffs, you could make maybe the strongest case for Bobrovsky. Carried his team.

Personally... I would have had Ovie, Toews and Tavares this year. (I think Crosby deserves the Linsday but its hard to dispute his "Most Valuable" status considering the pens record without him in the lineup..... and its hard to make the case when he missed as many games as he did)

I don't like goalies for the Hart.... but if columbus made the playoffs.... Bob would have definantly been in the discussion.

agree 100%. I mean I watch Minnesota games and all but didn't realize how good he really was. Norris for Suter, JT with the Hart

Id have St Louis there ahead of JT.

There is a reason he is in on the Ted Lindsay. JT is nothing more than a feel good story and NHL PR.

He personally carried the Islanders to a playoff position. He was alot more valuable to his team then any other player in this league for 2013

nobody can deny crosby's dominance, but the guy missed a quarter of the season, and his team didn't miss a beat. he shouldnt' be nominated, and if he is, then anderson should have been nominated for, and run away with the vezina.

my 3 would have been toews, ovechkin, and tavares

Agree 100%. The Norris has turned into the highest scoring defenseman award.

They should create a Bobby Orr award for best offensive defenseman and reserve the Norris for what it should be: best overall defenseman.

I'm not saying Ladd is entirely better than Tavares I'm saying he had just as valuable a season if not more than Tavares.
